What Can I Do With a Major in Art?

If one is true of art majors, it’s that they’re tired of being asked what they’re going to do with their degree. The truth is, most people who choose to major in art are simply following their passion, and will take their passion as far as it can go.

Many art majors do on to have long and successful careers in an art-related occupation. Some work as set designers, graphic designers, sculptors, curators, illustrators, photographers, and many other occupations that require a great visual eye and the ability to develop meaningful work.

With that said, the vast majority of people who graduate with a bachelor’s degree in art go on to work in an occupation that isn’t related to their major. Art majors are normally very imaginative, which, believe it or not, is still very valuable in the world of business suits and cubicles.

Nearly fifteen percent of art majors end up working in sales and marketing. Another twelve percent go on to work as teachers. Other graduates work in administrative positions (like secretaries and clerks), and many move up to fill upper management positions.
